Become a Counselor

Do you want to make a positive impact in a young person’s life? If so, please consider becoming a Florida American Legion Boys State (FALBS) Counselor.

You must be physically willing and able to apply as a counselor:

  1. I possess sufficient mobility, strength, or dexterity to fulfill all the physically applicable functions of a counselor implied or assigned, including the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, wear up to 5lbs of equipment, lift up to 20lbs, and bend repetitively.
  2. I possess the capacity to perform all of the applicable functions of a counselor implied or assigned without the assistance of another.
  3. I possess the ability to read, understand, and relay instructions required and related to being a counselor, but especially to emergency or evacuation situations provided verbally by those in charge, such as the executive team or FHP, or provided in printed or graphic form.
  4. I do not possess a condition that might prevent me from performing one or more of the applicable functions of a counselor implied or assigned or a condition that might cause myself harm if I perform one or more of the applicable functions.
