When purchasing Legion license plate:

You do NOT have to have a Voucher with you to purchase a Legion license plate.  When visiting your local Tax Collector’s office: Give the clerk your name, driver license number and license plate number you want to replace with the American Legion license plate. At the end of the transaction, a message will inform the clerk that the person has a voucher in their name, and the question will be, does the customer want to use the voucher now.  If the person wants to use the voucher they will say yes.  (The clerk my not ask the person the question, they make assume since the person is changing to the new plate that they want to use the voucher.)  The fee that has already been paid will be deducted from final cost.

Vouchers have no expiration date and are non-transferable or refundable.  Vehicle must be registered and in the name of the person using the voucher. If you purchased the voucher as a gift for someone, the pre-sale voucher you gave them is not required to obtain the actual license plate. To redeem the voucher they will need to show their Florida Driver’s License. It’s important that if you purchase a voucher as a gift that it is in that person’s name and they have a vehicle registered in their name.

If you have any questions, contact your local Tax Collector’s Office.
