School Medals: Chair

From the Chairman

Comrades of the state of Florida, my name is Eric Nestler and I am currently serving as Department of Florida Chairman for School Medals. Hopefully, by now all of the district and post chairman have been identified. I am looking forward to hearing from the district chairs on the great works of each post in promoting the future leaders of our country. It is up to us as legionnaires to go out and recognize our youth who are about supporting our core values.

How we approach that is quite simple. Go out to our schools and talk to the principals or guidance counselors and tell them about the School Medal program.  Let them know we want to recognize a male and female student who best demonstrates all the desired qualities of Courage, Honor, Leadership, Patriotism, Scholarship, and Service from their school. School Medals and certificates are provided free to participating schools. All the school’s responsibility is to select the students to be awarded the School Medal. School medals are normally presented by a Legionnaire at the school’s end-of-year awards program in recognition of their great achievements.

If you need assistance or have never done this at your post, don’t hesitate to contact me and I will gladly help.  There are resources available on the Department website, floridalegion.org or I can send you a starter package.  Hope to hear from you soon.

For God and Country,

Chair:
Eric Nestler
