James “Jim” Burgess

It is with deep regret that we report the passing of Past Central Area Commander, James “Jim” Burgess, of Safety Harbor, FL on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the age of 67. Jim is survived by his wife, Ruth. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 11:00am at Bethel Lutheran, 3166 McMullen Booth Road, Clearwater, FL, 33761. A celebration of life, memorial service and luncheon is planned immediately following the funeral service at American Legion Post 238, 900 Main Street, Safety Harbor, FL 34695.

Jim was a US Navy Vietnam Veteran and a member of Safety Harbor Post 238, with 17 continues years of membership.
He was a member of the Legion, Sons and Riders and during this time held numerous offices throughout the Post, Squadron, Chapter, 16th District and Central Area.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to The American Legion Post 238 renovation fund. Jim wanted his home Post to be beautiful and accessible to all.
