Lady Lake Post 347 Repeats as National Color Guard Champion
Florida was well represented on the national stage as American Legion Post 347 in Lady Lake captured the overall championship at the 2026 National Color Guard Contest during The American Legion’s 107th National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky.
The victory marks the second consecutive national championship for Post 347, which also earned the title in 2025. With this year’s win, the team will once again have the honor of serving as the National Commander’s Color Guard at the 2027 National Convention.
Post 347 earned the overall championship by achieving the highest combined average in the Advancing/Retiring of Colors and Military Class competitions. The team placed first in Advancing/Retiring of Colors and third in Military Class.
Florida’s success did not stop there.
American Legion Post 57 in Lake City also delivered an impressive performance on the national stage, placing fourth in Advancing/Retiring of Colors and second in the Military Class competition.
The accomplishments of both teams reflect the preparation, discipline and dedication required of American Legion color guards. Beyond competition, these programs play an important role in honoring our nation’s flag, preserving military traditions and representing The American Legion at ceremonies and events throughout their communities.
Post 347’s back-to-back championship is especially notable considering the team first competed nationally in 2025 and won the championship in its inaugural appearance. One year later, its members returned to defend the title and once again brought the national championship home to Florida.
The American Legion, Department of Florida congratulates the members of Lady Lake Post 347 and Lake City Post 57 for representing Florida with distinction. Their accomplishments are a tremendous source of pride for the Department and demonstrate the dedication to service, tradition and respect for our nation’s colors found throughout Florida’s American Legion Family.
Congratulations to Post 347 and Post 57 on an outstanding national showing!
