10 Passenger Golf Cart Donated

A 10 passenger golf cart was recently donated to the new Fisher House, underway at Lake Nona in Orlando, FL. The 10 passenger golf cart was not utilized by the Gainesville VA Hospital and Alan Cohen, our VA&R Chairman reached out to Ted Costello, VAVS Representative for the Orlando VA Medical Center, to see if the new VA Hospital at Lake Nona, would have use for it.

Adelina Sowell, Chief of Voluntary Services, felt the golf cart was too large for their use but suggested the new Fisher House, currently under construction, could utilize it to transport families to and from the hospital to visit loved ones under hospital care. The golf cart was overhauled for safety and Costello made delivery arrangements with PDC Larry White.

A presentation was made at the Veterans Memorial between the Domiciliary and CLC Nursing Home the morning of July 27, 2017. Afterwards, attendees visited CLC Nursing Home, for good company and provided residents with small gifts. Afterwards, attendees and representatives headed over to the VA Facility for lunch before departing.
