If you’re looking for a way to honor service members who have died in military service to our Country since September 11, 2001, plan on visiting the Florida’s Fallen Memorial. Every year, Oviedo Memorial Post 243 erects over 400 individual crosses, Stars of David, and 13 United States Campaign crosses to help honor, remember and serve as a personal connection for the community. Many families visit to help their children understand that freedom comes at a price and that the military is not some far off concept that is difficult to understand. It is our neighbors, moms, dads, sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, and friends (and more) that are willing to help keep our nation great.

The individual crosses and stars have names, military branch, rank, hometown, casualty date, age, photographs, and awards. The Memorial also includes flags of our military branches and large crosses representing the major campaigns from American history, the dates of those conflicts, and the total number of deaths incurred. A special tribute is also included for our service members who may be home but are still fighting their battles. Military K-9’s are also honored in this special area. The iconic boots with rifle inserted, helmet and dog tags display can be found in this tribute area, as well.
