SUMMARY:Florida's Fallen Memorial and Memorial Day Remembrance
DESCRIPTION:If you haven’t seen it before\, now is the time!  The Florida’s Fallen Memorial is being installed in the Oviedo Cemetery\, right across the street from Post 243.  The Memorial has over 400 crosses\, representing Floridians who have died in military service for our Country since September 11\, 2001.  The individual crosses have names\, military branch\, rank\, hometown\, casualty date\, age\, photographs\, and awards.  The Memorial also includes flags of our military branches and large crosses representing the major campaigns from American history\, the dates of those conflicts\, and the total number of deaths incurred. \nMemorial is staffed daily from 0800-2000 starting Sunday\, May 17th  \nIt will remain in place for two weeks through May 30th .    \nJoin us on Memorial Day -Monday May 25th – for Memorial Day Remembrance.

DESCRIPTION:American Legion Sauls-Bridges Post 13 will commemorate America’s 250th birthday with a free\, community-wide Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday\, July 4\, 2026\, at the Post home\, 229 Lake Ella Drive. \nInspired by traditional community Independence Day gatherings\, the family-friendly celebration will bring veterans\, their families and the Tallahassee community together for food\, music\, games and activities before the city’s evening fireworks events. \n“This celebration is an opportunity to bring people together\, welcome the community into our Post home and celebrate our nation’s history in a fun\, traditional way\,” said Post 13 Commander Dennis Hall. “We want families to enjoy an old-fashioned Fourth of July filled with good food\, friendly competition\, music and fellowship.” \nActivities are expected to include:\n• A cornhole tournament\n• A homemade ice cream competition\n• Cake walks and children’s games\n• Board games inside the Post home\n• Live Appalachian bluegrass and other musical entertainment\n• Traditional outdoor games and family activities \nGuests will also enjoy complimentary all-beef hot dogs with trimmings\, potato chips\, desserts\, lemonade\, fruit punch\, cold water\, boiled peanuts\, freshly popped popcorn\, watermelon and homemade ice cream. \nAdmission and food are free. The event is open to the entire community\, and no American Legion affiliation is required to attend. The mother is having health issues and couldn’t fly to Washington DC for the ceremony so they said they could hold it here in Florida at The American Legion in Winter Haven.  We are honored to host this event for our member and her daughter.
