"Preparing for Our Future"

At the November 2010 Fall Conference in Orlando, the Sons of The American Legion, Detachment of Florida Executive Committee approved a proposal to create the Detachment Member Training & Development Committee. Detachment Commander Mike Dooley appointed Past Detachment Commanders Jim Roberts and John Jennings to serve as the Chairman & Vice Chairman of the new committee.

The purpose was to create ways educate members and future leaders of the Sons of The American Legion Detachment of Florida. The Committee has already completed the 3 courses that make up the Florida Sons of The American Legion College. The Committee will also be developing and researching more classes and workshops that can be delivered at locations throughout the State of Florida to include District & Area Meetings, Conferences and Conventions.

The committee is currently developing several guides to assist members and officers of the Sons to better carry out our responsibilities as members of the Sons of The American Legion. The Committee is always open to suggestions for future training programs and if you are interested in assisting us, please fill out this short survey that will allow us to see what you think.
