At the November 2010 Fall Conference in Orlando, the Sons of The American Legion, Detachment of Florida Executive Committee approved a proposal to create the Detachment Member Training & Development Committee and Florida Sons of The American Legion College System (FSCS). Detachment Commander Mike Dooley appointed Past Detachment Commanders Jim Roberts and John Jennings to serve as the Chairman & Vice Chairman of the new committee.
The purpose was create a consistent format to educate members of the Sons of The American Legion with some of the basic management practices. This will be achieved by using 3 core classes that are outlined in the proposal that can be viewed below along with the syllabus for those classes.
It is anticipated that classes will begin at the Fall Conference of 2012 in an effort to make sure that our core classes are complete and to begin developing follow-on courses that can be taken to learn more about the Sons of The American Legion and it's programs.
The Committee will be developing additional courses that can be delivered to Districts, Areas and after Detachment meetings and as always we need your support to make this program a huge success.
