2006 Fall Conference & Juniors Pizza Party

 


October 21, 2006 - Members of the Sons of The American Legion from across Florida descend upon the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando for the Annual Fall Conference.

Here are the Department Officers and their National guest, National Vice Commander Byron White from the Department of Alabama.

During the conference many reports were given to those present.

Here is 5th District Commander Bill Kelly, of Squadron 137, holding up the Special Olympics Flag that is presented to each Squadron that presents over $300.00 in donations to the Florida Special Olympics.

Detachment Commander Mark Davis (R) presents the National Award for the Best Squadron Report to Jacksonville Squadron 283 for submitting the best report in the Nation this past year.

The American Legion National Executive Committeeman Alternate, Dennis Boland who is the President of the National Child Welfare Foundation and was recently appointed as the Chairman of the National Children & Youth Commission.

This years membership them is Farming for the Future "Growing Membership". In keeping with the theme Detachment Membership Chairman Jim Roberts, of Squadron 4, and Detachment Adjutant Ed Sheubrooks, Of Squadron 40, present the Detachment Commander, Vice Commanders, National Executive Committeeman and Alternate their tools to begin the Farming process.

The NEC and Alternate received water buckets with seeds, applications and brochures.

The Detachment Vice Commander in last place received a purple hoe to carry with him on his travels.

Detachment Commander Mark Davis thanks Detachment Adjutant Ed Sheubrooks and Assistant Adjutant Jim Roberts for their work to make the Juniors Pizza Party happen at this conference. The event was in jeopardy of not happening and because of their efforts the party will still be held.

Commander Davis held up the flyer for the Juniors Pizza Party to remind all of our Junior members and Detachment Officers to attend.

This year the Sons of The American Legion, National Vice Commander - South visited us during our conference.

National Vice Commander Mark Arneson, of the Detachment of Georgia, addressed the membership and was proud to be wearing the Flaming John Deere baseball hat. This hat represents the 1st place region in Membership and the South is in first place.
