Fall Conference

COMMANDER'S COLUMN
Mark Davis, Detachment Commander

My Fellow SAL Members,

Let’s see, the National Convention is over. Installations are just about over, and now it is time to get down to business and work on membership. We have a long haul if we are going to beat last years goals. I know you all can do it! I did notice in the last Source’s membership report that a lot of Squadrons still had zeros. If nothing else all Squadron Officers dues should be paid and transmitted into Department. There is no excuse for zero membership.

Next up is Mid-Winter, or the Fall Conference. I hope to see you all there. Hopefully your 100% Banners will be in. Any contributions to the Children’s Miracle Network, Child Welfare Foundation, National Emergency Relief Fund, Florida Children & Youth Fund and Florida Special Olympics will be greatly appreciated.

Chris Fisher has come up with an excellent idea for a Fund Raiser. It would be in the way of an auction. I will let Chris explain further at the Mid Winter Conference.

My upcoming travels include Sept. 4th – Squadron #162, Sept. 16th – Squadrons # 90, 192, 135, and 136. Get ready Mr. Dooley. Sept. 17th – District meeting at #103. Sept. 30th – Post #64 Roast for Chuck Moreland. Oct. 13th – 15th, Fall Meetings in Indianapolis. Oct. 20th – 22nd – Mid Winter Conference Orlando.

One final note before closing, Mr. Kelly and Mr. Jennings, I will get even for Saturday night after Convention. For God and Country.

Gentlemen,

The 3rd Annual Fall Conference, or Mid Winter Conference will take place on Saturday, October 21st, at the Rosen Centre on International Drive in Orlando. The Conference will be changing format again this year as we will not be having a Spring Conference. Therefore we will be going back to the old Mid Winter schedule. Executive Committee meeting in the morning, followed by a general session and Committee and Commission meetings. The session should rap up around noon. After lunch we will have a PCC meeting, followed by a Membership Rally and small Workshop. We will expand on the concept from last year with a question and answer session. I hope to see everyone there.

As Detachment Commander Davis stated, we will be collecting for our various Charities, so please bring your checks. We hope to have a representative from Florida Special Olympics with us again. In addition, our National Commander Earl Rutoszky from the Detachment of Michigan will be with us. You all might remember Earl from the past Spring Conference.

The Detachment Roster is in print and should be distributed to all Squadrons within a week. We had a slight glitch in the program which delayed going to print with it. I wish to thank Jamie Leudenburg at Department Headquarters for her hard work on completing the roster.

We are looking to possibly have a Spring Round-Up Workshop within the Detachment sometime in February or March. We are asking and Squadron that would like to host this event to submit a proposal to the Detachment, hopefully during the Fall Conference. This should include Hotel information and pricing in addition to any activities on a Friday or Saturday evening. This would be a one day event and would need the commitment of the sponsoring Post for their Hall usage.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the Fall Conference. Until next month!!!!.

PAST COMMANDERS CLUB
Mark Davis, President

It is with deep regret that I have cancelled the hospitality room at the Mid Winter Conference. The reason being they wanted to much money for the room. On the bright side, I have just received a new shipment of shirts and hats for the PCC. I did change one color but I did keep the black shirts. You will have to wait till Mid-Winter to see the new exciting color.

PIZZA PARTY

We are not certain if there will be a Pizza Party for the SAL and Junior Auxiliary at this time. Some problems exist that we are trying to work out at the present time. If this happens, the information will be posted on the Website.
