Davis, Mark M., died on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Emma Davis of Ft. Lauderdale and daughter, Melissa Robinson. An urn committal service with Air Force honors was held on October 29, 2008 at the South Florida National Cemetery.
Past Detachment Commander Mark Davis was a proud member of The American Legion Family. Mark served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and subsequently became a member of The American Legion. Mark served in many capacities in The American Legion including that of Post Commander.
Mark took an interest in the Sons of The American Legion and as a result was appointed by his Post Commander to be the SAL Advisor. Through the years Mark continued his interest in the SAL and was appointed to serve a his District SAL Advisor and also served as the Department SAL Advisor under 2 Department Commanders.
As Mark's interests continued to grow in the SAL he began to hold offices in the organization including; Squadron Commander, District Commander, Detachment Vice Commander - South and Detachment Commander from 2005 to 2007. Mark had a fantastic 2 years in office as the Detachment Commander. Mark was well liked and respected across The American Legion Family.
At the time of passing Mark was holding the position of National Executive Committeeman for the Detachment of Florida. Mark will be deeply missed by all of the members of The American Legion Family in Florida, but more so by the men that served with him in the Sons of The American Legion, Detachment of Florida.
